Sambino turned nine a few weeks ago. That means that next year he will be 10, and in 3 years he will be 12! (Are you impressed with my counting skills?) I'm not sure who gave my baby permission to grow up but it certainly wasn't me. Signs of the pre-preteens are already showing and I'm feeling woefully unprepared.
For the big event Sam decided to invite his Cub Scout friends over and to have a "space themed" birthday. Cool, except his mom didn't go to the party store until 4 days before the scheduled party. I was soooo confident that they would have the supplies that I needed. Surely there would be a spaceship pinata, and matching paper supplies, right? Nope, not even anything remotely space related. What they did have was green face paint and blue hairspray, which inspired me to change it to a "martian themed" party. Practically the same thing in my book.
So we painted the boys, sprayed up their hair, had them make antennas and changed their names to Skeel, Lorak, Dar Kova, ect. The food was typical party fair, you know, crater crunch, martian munchies, galaxy green juice and liquid hydrogen #20. And since I like good old fashion fun, we spiced it up with games like hot potato.
We just love this little guy to pieces. I love Sam's personality and his happiness in the little things. For his birthday present we gave him $20 and Andrew took him to a discount book store. When he came home Sam said, "This is the best day ever!" (He really is my child.) Aside from reading, the Lego obsession is still strong, and it is one obsession that I'm more than happy to nurture.
We are going to be navigating some uncharted territory here during the next couple nine years, but I can't think of anyone I'd rather do it with. Love you child!

You did a great job! I love these boys!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO our eldest grandchild!
This is a good picture of Sam and I love it! https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qPfStfaw28U/UREfpLtF-lI/AAAAAAAAMb8/7duRvlFhwS4/s0/IMG_3337.JPG I downloaded the picture, tightened up the crop and put Sam on display life size in my bedroom in one of my large digital picture displays. He looks absolutely beautiful on display life size and I really fell in love with the picture. The cool thing is the picture is clear and sharp and when I walk up to admire this gorgeous little beauty he appears to be directly in front of me! The display is warm and silky smooth and since he appears to be right there in front of me I tried leaning close and kissing him. I was like OMG! He really came to life and it seemed like I was really kissing him, which I really liked a lot. When I was standing there caressing his lips with my tongue and kissing his mouth that beautiful face and pretty smile sent shivers up and down my spine. I am absolutely going to love having him life size in my bedroom!
